M.I.A.

Since I haven't posted anything in a while it is with some small explanation; I was sick. Yup. Tummy flu, return of the almighty ulcer or something a lot like it. No great photo ops there thats for sure! The coma I was in, kept me in the apartment missing out on some of the most beautiful days. Alas I return to work, to the big world around me, much better and feeling rested!

Poor Caesar, he just doesn't understand that kicking up the snow in celebration, ceremony will every time, make his feet too cold to go on. He stands stiff legged, no safe place for chilly paws. Too afraid to move. With some encouragement the ole fella moves on to the hard packed surface. Much easier to take in bare feet.

...there will be grassy frolics again

Mid February

In the past I have despised February, it is the non month. Mainly it prolongs the wet nasty winters of Ontario. Of all the months to add an extra day, who decided February was a good idea (had to be those Romans)! Sheesh why not prolong July?
This is my first February in Nunavut, I must admit, I am liking it! The sun shines longer, the dawns are spectacular and the air so clear that I only imagine how many miles my eyes can see!
I stepped out early to take Caesar for his morning constitutional, and when I opened the door, the sunrise over the bay took my breath away!
That lil ole groundhog can predict as much winter as he wants to, today I don't mind the idea of more February days. Even one extra day here won't seem as tedious as the sloppy, cold, dangerous conditions of Ontario. Thanks Nunavut for the fresh look at tired old February!

For the tooth fairy

That's one big extraction! These are walrus tusk which I had the fortune to take to work for a day. The are harvested from one animal and are intended for an artist. I could not resist the opportunity!
Above is my co worker Allison! She looks great, I look freaked out because I can see the tooth roots through the open end of the tusk!

around the bend

Okay so it's another black and white pic...but they all are! I promise to stop posting pics that are bleak looking. I love the landscape and the colour scheme, but maybe not all my readers. This view is part of our daily walk. yup bragging again about the shore line!
